Healthy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Baked sweet potato fries are a great healthy alternative to fried potato fries! Sweet potatoes are packed with fiber and nutrients. Who said eating healthy has to suck? Try my healthy baked sweet potato fries to satisfy your fry craving! It is packed with flavor!

Why is sweet potato healthier?

One cup of sweet potato is about 114 calories, 4 grams of fiber, and has 377% of your vitamin A daily value, 4% of your calcium daily value, 5% of your vitamin C daily value, 4% of your daily iron value, 15% of your vitamin B-6 daily value, and 8% of your magnesium daily value.

One cup of potato is about 113 calories, 2.7 grams of fiber, and has 0.3% of your vitamin A daily value, has 2% of your calcium daily value, 30% of your vitamin c daily value, 6% of your daily iron value, 10% of your vitamin B-6 daily,  has no magnesium daily value.

Comparing the two, sweet potato has more fiber and nutrients which makes it healthier.

Healthy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1/8 cup coconut flour (can use all-purpose flour instead)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Step 1

Prep the oven by preheating it to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Peel the sweet potato and cut it into sticks.

Step 3

In a large bowl, add your cut sweet potato and soak in cold water for 45 mins. Soaking the sweet potatoes is a process to rinse off the starch and makes the fries crispy.

Step 4

After 45 mins of soaking, drain the sweet potatoes. In a large bowl, combine your sweet potato, coconut flour, garlic powder, salt, black pepper. If you like to add spiciness to your fries, add in cayenne pepper. Combine everything together with your hands until sweet potatoes are coated with seasoning and flour.

Step 5

Line a baking tray with non-stick cooking spray or aluminum foil, or parchment paper. Add each sliced and coated sweet potato on the baking tray.

Step 6

Bake in your preheated oven for 20-25 mins. Remove from the oven after it is finished baking to allow the fries to cool down.
