Dog Birthday Cake Recipe, Tuna Dog Cake

Celebrate your dog’s birthday with a homemade dog cake! Your dog will devour this dog birthday cake within seconds. What is a better gift than giving your dog the gift of food made with love?!

For my senior dog’s, Newton, 13th birthday, I wanted him to have a delicious dog cake. He has a sensitive stomach since he is a senior dog, so I did not want to buy dog cake or dog treats from the store. Treats and cakes made for dogs that are sold at the store usually have a lot of additives. The reason why it had additives is because it must sit on the pet store shelf for days, weeks, and even months. This dog cake recipe uses ingredients that us humans eat, and I made sure that all the ingredients are 100% dog safe.

This dog cake recipe is for dogs that love fish! My dog, Newton, is a big tuna fan so this is cake is packed with canned tuna. I wanted to decorate the cake so I made creamy mashed potatoes to use as the frosting for this cake. Mashed potatoes are easy to use as cake frosting because it is creamy, just like a buttercream frosting. You can even pipe the mashed potatoes with a frosting pipping bag to add extra decorations.
