Thanksgiving is the time for families to rejoice and enjoy a feast together! Dogs are family members too, so why not make dog safe Thanksgiving treats for them to join in on the holiday fun?!

Nothing screams Thanksgiving more than pumpkin pie! Pumpkin pie is a classic Thanksgiving dessert, so it was a no brainer for me to come up with a dog safe pumpkin pie recipe for dogs to eat! This recipe is made with 100% dog safe ingredients, so you do not need to worry about your dog getting sick. It is made with human grade ingredients so even you can eat it!

Making homemade dog treats is not as time consuming as you think! Try making this easy dog treat recipe at home. It is such a rewarding feeling to see your dogs so happy to eat your treats! The best part is knowing exactly all the ingredients that go into your dog’s food and that there are no additives or preservatives!

Pumpkin is completely safe for dogs to eat; however, due to the high amount of fiber in pumpkin, over eating pumpkin can cause dogs to get diarrhea so be sure to feed them in moderation.

Pumpkin Pie for Dogs, Homemade Thanksgiving Dog Treats

Serving Size = two 4.5″ diameter round cake pans

Ingredients:

Crust

3/4 cups of oat flour

1 whole large egg

Pumpkin Pie Filling

one 15oz can pumpkin puree

1 whole large egg

1 tablespoon of honey

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Step 1

Prep oven by preheating it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

In a bowl, mix 3/4 cup of oat flour and 1 whole large egg. Mix well using an electric hand mixer to mix until dough is smooth. Kneed the dough a few times and get it into a ball. Separate the dough into 2 separate smaller balls. Each will be the crust in your baking pan.

Step 3

Press dough evenly into the bottom of the baking pan. Bake the crust for 8 mins.

Step 4
While crust is baking, we will make the pumpkin pie filling. In a large bowl, combine one 15oz can of pumpkin puree, 1 whole large egg, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix well with an electric hand mixer until smooth.

Step 5

After the crust is done baking, pour the pumpkin filling evenly into your two baking pans. Bake your pumpkin pie for 30 mins. Let cool before serving to your dog.

Ingredients
  

Crust

  • ¾ cup oat flour
  • 1 large egg

Pumpkin Pie Filling

  • 1 can 15oz pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Prep oven by preheating it to 350° Fahrenheit.
  • In a bowl, mix ¾ cups of oat flour and 1 large egg. If you do not have oat flour, you can use a food processor to grind quick oats into flour. Kneed the dough a few times and to get it into a ball. Separate the dough into two equal balls. Press each ball of dough down into your baking pan to make your crust. Bake the crust for 8 mins.
  • While your crust is baking, we will make the pumpkin pie filling. In a large bowl, combine one 15oz can of pumpkin puree, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 large egg, and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Use an electric hand mixer to mix well. Once mixture is smooth, evenly pour the pumpkin pie filing into each of your baking pans with crust. Bake for 30 mins. Let cool before serving to your dog.
