I used regular unsweetened cocoa powder for this recipe. You can elevate this recipe by using premium Dutch cocoa powder for a deeper rich chocolate color. Dutch cocoa powder is cocoa powder that has gone through a process to neutralize its acidity which gives it the dark chocolate color. There is not much difference in terms of flavor wise when you use Dutch cocoa powder, but visually you will see a significant difference in the chocolate color.

Some people think of bland cookies with they think about oatmeal cookies, but this chocolate oatmeal cookie will change their mind! It is 100% better than the oatmeal cookies you buy from the grocery store. This oatmeal cookie is packed with chocolate flavor and is soft and chewy. It is my ultimate chocolate oatmeal chocolate chip cookie! This recipe uses brown sugar and butter which are great ingredients to help give the oatmeal cookies that nice soft cookie and chewy texture. Oatmeal can make cookies feel dry, but this recipe will not have dry cookies!

Oatmeal is one of the healthiest grains because they’re gluten-free, high in vitamins and minerals, is packed with fiber, and has antioxidants. Oatmeal fiber is high in soluble fiber which is what helps your stomach to feel full and aides with weight loss. According to Healthline, studies have shown that people who include oatmeal into their daily diet can lower their blood sugar level and reduce their risk for heart disease. This is because oatmeal contains avenanthramides which is a group of antioxidants that increase the production of nitric oxide and helps dilate blood vessels.

Knowing the great benefits of oatmeal, it is a no-brainer to try out this chocolate oatmeal chocolate chip recipe! You can eat a cookie without feeling the guilt!
