Chocolate buttercream frosting is a classic that everyone should know how to make at home. Kids and adults are all fans of creamy chocolate frosting!
You can use this fudgy chocolate frosting for cakes or cupcakes or even as filling for your desserts.
Because this classic basic chocolate buttercream frosting, I recommend that you use high quality ingredients to enhance the flavor. If you do not have high quality ingredients in hand, it will still taste great, but of course higher quality cocoa powder and vanilla if possible is preferred.
Why is high quality cocoa powder important?
The reason why I recommend using a high-quality cocoa powder is because it will provide you an intense chocolate flavor and texture compared to a low quality cocoa powder. All good chocolate stem from cocoa powder. Cocoa powder formed when roasted cocoa beans or nibs are made into cocoa liquor, and all the fats are processed and removed. This leaves all the dried powder behind and make cocoa powder.
How to Tell the Quality of Cocoa Powder
An easy way to tell if the cocoa powder you purchase is high quality cocoa powder is to check the fat content. The higher the fat content, the more flavor and fudgy your chocolate will taste. Cheap cocoa powder will not have the intense chocolate flavor, and it will usually result in less creamy chocolate desserts.
